Can You Put Ceramic Coating on a Used Car and Is It Worth It

A lot of people think ceramic coating is only for brand new cars, but that’s not true. Used cars can benefit just as much, if not more. Here’s what you need to know.

A common misconception is that ceramic coating is only for new vehicles.

That’s not the case at all.

Used cars can actually benefit a lot from it, especially if the paint is starting to show wear.

The difference is in the prep.

With a used vehicle, there’s usually going to be swirl marks, light scratches, and buildup sitting in the paint. Before any coating goes on, all of that needs to be addressed.

That’s where paint correction comes in.

Once the paint is cleaned up and brought back to a good condition, the coating can be applied and it will lock that finish in.

That’s why you’ll see used cars come in looking tired and leave looking completely different.

The coating itself then helps protect that finish moving forward.

It makes the vehicle easier to clean, helps prevent buildup, and keeps it looking better longer.

In Michigan, where vehicles take a beating from weather and road conditions, that kind of protection makes a big difference over time.

At Maverick Detailing, a lot of the vehicles we work on are not brand new. We bring the paint back first, then protect it so it stays that way.

If you’re in Grand Rapids or West Michigan and have a used car you want to bring back to life and protect properly, we can take care of the correction and coating so it’s done the right way.
