How to Remove Swirl Marks and Scratches From Your Car Properly

Swirl marks and light scratches are one of the biggest things that make a car look dull. Most people try to fix them the wrong way and make it worse. Here’s how it’s actually done.

If your car looks dull in the sunlight or under bright lights, there’s a good chance it’s covered in swirl marks.

These come from improper washing, automatic car washes, and just general wear over time.

A lot of people try to fix this with quick products or hand polishing, but that usually doesn’t solve the problem.

To properly remove swirl marks and light scratches, you need machine polishing.

This is called paint correction.

It’s a process where the surface of the paint is leveled out to remove those imperfections and restore clarity and gloss.

Different vehicles require different levels of correction. Some need a light polish, others need a more aggressive approach to get the paint back where it should be.

The goal is to remove as many defects as possible while keeping the paint safe.

Once that’s done, protection becomes important.

Because if you don’t protect the surface after correcting it, the same issues will come back over time.

At Maverick Detailing, paint correction is one of the main things we do. Bringing back depth, clarity, and making the paint look the way it’s supposed to.

If you’re in Grand Rapids or West Michigan and your vehicle has swirl marks or light scratches, we can correct the paint and then protect it so it stays looking right.
