Paint Protection Film vs Ceramic Coating What Is the Difference
Paint protection film and ceramic coating get compared all the time, but they do completely different things. If you’re trying to figure out what your car actually needs, this breaks it down in a simple way.
This is another question that comes up all the time.
Should I get paint protection film or ceramic coating.
The easiest way to understand it is this.
Paint protection film, also known as PPF, is physical protection. It’s a clear film that goes over your paint and takes the impact from rock chips, road debris, and scratches.
Ceramic coating is surface protection. It bonds to your paint and protects against dirt, salt, water, and makes your vehicle easier to clean.
So one protects against impact and the other protects the surface.
Most people don’t need full body PPF, but high impact areas like the front bumper, hood, and mirrors make a lot of sense.
From there, adding a ceramic coating over the rest of the vehicle gives you easier maintenance and long term protection.
That combination is what most people are looking for without realizing it.
At Maverick Detailing, we help clients figure out the right setup based on how they drive and what they want out of their vehicle. Some cars need more protection, some just need maintenance to stay looking good.
If you’re in the Grand Rapids or West Michigan area and aren’t sure what makes the most sense for your car, we can help you build out the right protection plan and take care of everything from start to finish.
